la cha\u00eene respiratoire mitochondriale, o\u00f9 l\u2019\u00e9nergie libre des \u00e9lectrons est convertie en translocation de protons \u00e0 travers la membrane interne mitochondriale (IMM).<br><br>L\u2019\u00e9nergie qui d\u00e9place un proton \u00e0 travers la membrane n\u2019est pas une \u00e9nergie chimique au sens de l\u2019ATP, mais une \u00e9nergie libre \u00e9lectronique, extraite du NADH lors du flux d\u2019\u00e9lectrons le long du gradient redox.<br>La force motrice globale correspond \u00e0 la diff\u00e9rence de potentiel standard entre le couple NADH\/NAD\u207a (\u2248 \u2212320 mV) et O\u2082\/H\u2082O (+820 mV), soit <strong>\u0394G\u00b0\u2019 \u2248 \u2212220 kJ\u00b7mol\u207b\u00b9 par 2 \u00e9lectrons<\/strong>. <br><br>Le Complexe I r\u00e9alise la premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape de conversion de cette \u00e9nergie en force proton-motrice (\u0394p), en capturant une partie de cette \u00e9nergie libre tandis que le reste est dissip\u00e9 sous forme de
